    In February 2001, Robert Nault, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development authorized Mr. Thomas Molloy to begin long-term processes to address issues of asserted Aboriginal rights and Treaty rights.

    British Columbia Treaty Commission

    In 1992, Canada, British Columbia and the First Nation Summit signed the Treaty Commission Agreement for the creation of the British Columbia Treaty Commission (the “BCTC”).

    The Office of the Treaty Commissioner (“OTC”) was created in 1989 by Canada and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (with the support of the Province of Saskatchewan), with an original mandate to review treaty land entitlement and education.
