Communication Officer (Deadline: February 3,2011)
The New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council is currently seeking to fill the role of Communication Officer. The Communication Officer will assist in the overall communication function, coordinate the overall internal and external communications, lobbying and public relations, responsible for the day to day communication requirements and dealing with the public and membership through personal contact, telephone, website, radio communications, newsletters and email etc. This position directly reports to the Vice-Chief and Executive Director.

Required Skills and Attributes:

• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Proficiency in the use of computer programs for Microsoft Office Suite, data base management and the Internet.
• Must have knowledge of the off-reserve Mi’kmaq, Maliseet and Passamaquoddy Peoples living in New Brunswick.
• Ability to work and travel evenings and weekends, when required.
• Must have a valid class V driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• The ability to speak English is required and a working knowledge of French would be an asset.

Membership Assistant (Deadline: January 27, 2011)
The New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council is seeking a person to fill the short term position of Membership Administrative Assistant.

The successful candidate must have strong office organization skills accompanied by hands on computer knowledge, data entry and filing. Should have good communication skills, (both written and oral) and should also have knowledge of the Mi’kmaq, Maliseet and Passamaquoddy Peoples living in New Brunswick.  The ability to speak English is required and the ability to speak French would be considered an asset.
