Why is getting immunized important? Vaccines are safe and effective. By saying “yes,” you are helping to protect you or your child against diseases caused by certain viruses and bacteria. Immunization is one of the most powerful and cost-effective tools to prevent, control and manage vaccine preventable diseases. How to get immunized? Publicly funded vaccines are available to residents of New Brunswick based on the eligibility as outlined in the NB Routine Immunization Schedule. This schedule outlines the routine immunizations recommended for infants, children, adolescents and adults. Parents of adolescents who are not enrolled in a public school in New Brunswick may call their local Public Health office located within their regional health authority for further information. Les parents d’adolescents qui ne fréquentent pas une école publique au Nouveau-Brunswick sont invités à communiquer avec leur bureau local de santé publique pour plus de renseignements. The Province of New Brunswick and the Regional Health Authority (RHAs) in your area will be providing the H1N1 vaccine free to all people in New Brunswick. Currently due to a vaccine shortage, many clinics have had to be postponed by the Regional Health Authorities and the Department of Health. Please check the website or call the 1 800 number to check for changes to priority groups, and clinics dates and times.
